Ghafla Booed After Being Announced 2014 Blog Awards Winners
Shout out to all of Kenya’s bloggers as they shut up and listen to Uncle Chim Tuna!
Allow me this opportunity to sing an ode to Ghafla’s haters. Allow me to dedicate this one to the elitist community of “Kenyan bloggers” who booed as Ghafla was announced winners in their category Saturday night. I have always heard the noise Kenya’s community of bloggers make whenever Ghafla is referred to as a blog. I must admit that at times the noise is valid and constructive but more often than not, it is just white noise.
And who better to address Ghafla’s haters than Uncle Chim Tuna?
I heard it reported that Ghafla was booed when we were announced as the 2014 winners in the entertainment category. Get on the muffin snake express!
Allow me to first explain what or who a hater is. Or rather, let me allow Will Smith to jump right in:
Such as when Ghafla stumbles as one or two of her members make errors. But I speak for myself on this one. When I make an error, I apologize. Not everyone accepts that to err is human, but to forgive? Forgiveness is divine. And it would seem that not many want to fly with the gods and God’s anointed blogger, Uncle Chim Tuna!
SHUT UP AND LET ME FINISH!
Ghafla is not perfect, but we are the best! Ghafla is not infallible but our readers love us! Ghafla makes errors indeed! BUT WE ARE THE BEST! And you do not have to take my wise words, while we are at it, you do not have to take anything I say as fact. You could always ask Google! Ask Alexa to rank us. Now sit down and let me finish nephew!
Salty Sam, Hateful Harry, Butthurt Bob, take all the salt in the ocean and go home! We didn’t campaign. But because we are not elitist, because we shun pseudo-intelligence and pop-culture precocity, because we talk to the common Kenyan, nay!
Because we are the common Kenyan, our readers blessed us with their votes. So instead of whining and belly-aching, ask yourselves what you can learn from us. Or forever remain mediocre and butthurt. The choice is yours!
A huge thank you to our readers whom I love with every fibre of our being. A huge thank you to the BAKES Award committee! A huge thank you to the haters for without them, this self centered, egotistic rant would never have been! However, to the BAKE Award committee, next year, please have an award to recognize individual bloggers! I want everyone and their ancestors right down to the single-celled ones to whine and gripe when the winner is one of these guys:
