Renown Kenyan Vocalist, Dela, To Perform With Top African Artistes

Dela is one of Kenya’s finest vocalists. Her talents will be on display at the Nite Of A Thousand Laughs event which take place on 9th November at the Carnivore Grounds between 7.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m.

According to her bio, her love for music blossomed at the tender age of seven when her gift was stirred in church. In school, she continued singing and was an active member of the choir. That set the stage for her to become a recording artist.

While studying architecture at the University of Nairobi, she met Dan “Chizi” Aceda, and became his background vocalist, the proverbial baptism of fire for her. Her maiden musical foray venture was a collaboration with Sauti Sol on their hit-single “Mama Papa” which features on both their debut albums.

In late 2009, through Penya Africa she released Paukwa, her debut album which had acclaimed tracks such as Mama Papa with Sauti Sol, Ulivyo with Just A Band’s Blinky Bill and the crowd favourite Weche Tek.

In the recent past, she has collaborated with Juliani on Voters vs. Vultures, Tanzanian hitmaker Mzungu Kichaa and has appeared on Coke Studio Africa with other top African artistes.

At Nite Of A Thousand Laughs she will perform alongside Nigeria’s BasketMouth, South Africa’s Nduliso, Uganda’s Pablo and Malawi’s Daliso. Joining the strong African acts will be Kenya’s own Sleepy, Chipukeezy and Ayeiya with music by Mercy Myra and DJ Frida.
