Penya to Showcase Its Brightest Talent At Kenya’s First Annual Creative Festival

One of Kenya’s most talent-laden labels will be showcasing its artistes at the upcoming Sondeka Fest.

Kenya’s first ever annual creative arts fest will host Penya Africa’s Dempsey, KIU and Sauti Academy–which comprises of various artiste–on the second day of the festival (30th November).

KIU is made up of Tracy, Rosa and Pauline, who formed the group in April this year. The group’s Afro-pop and RnB tunes have been a breath of fresh air in Kenya’s entertainment scene.

Guitarist, composer, songwriter and singer Dempsey has been causing waves in Nairobi’s underground music scene with his sweet, jazzy and RnB tunes. He is currently working on his debut album with Penya Africa.

Sauti Academy is Penya’s artiste development program tailored for singers between the ages of 18 and 25 who want to take up music seriously. The program has become a hotbed of talent to supply Kenya with its next generation of stars.

Founded in 2008, Penya Africa is a non-profit music label based in Nairobi. The label seek to play an active role in inspiring and enabling local musicians to become influential agents of change at the local and international level.

The Penya Africa record label has so far released albums for Just A Band, Sauti Sol, Dela, Muthoni DQ and Stan among others.

Sondeka Fest will take place at the GreenHouse, Ngong Road, from 29th November to 1st December. The Penya Africa artistes will perform on the 30th between 6.00 p.m. and 8.30 p.m.
