Last Year’s EA Pioneer DJ Winner Talks About The State Of DJing In The Country

This is a message from last year’s EA Pioneer DJ Convention winner in the DJ Battle, DJ Kaydee (TakeOver DJs), which should ask as motivation for other DJs to enter this year’s competition, or at least show up for the convention.

“So PIONEER (the official manufacturer of the professional CD players) hold an expo in Kenya on 6th November 2012. Quite a lot is shed on how to improve the art & mostly the deejaying standards in the country.

There are SO MANY upcoming deejays who need nurturing and people to look up to as their mentors. There was need for a deejay union/SACCO to enable, support and curb exploitation from some of the investors.

The TRUTH of the matter is, most of us talented deejays feel a little too big and special for these competitions. It is however good to give the upcoming a chance though however, the competition levels are a little too low, hence, reason to participate.

I could not imagine PIONEER representatives leaving Kenya with a bad mentality/perception of the deejaying standards in Kenya. We so well know of some contests and franchises that have been poorly organized and executed, leaving bad tastes and images about deejaying in 254.

The whole event is creamed by a deejay competition on PIONEER GEAR that had a series of contestants and hits. I was proudly crowned the champion after some rounds of showcasing and exposure of tricks, ideas and creativity.

Much thanks to all the organisers, players, investors and sponsors. MOB, Code Red, Gallileo Lounge, Big Ted, Credible Sounds, my fellow deejays and MOSTLY PIONEER for shedding some technology awareness to the Kenyan market. We keep this art alive and liven the art of entertainment. I am still as creative as I were some 8 years ago.” — DJ Kaydee of TakeOver DJs
