“I Have Been Living A Lie.” 32-Year-Old Sultry Kenyan Songbird Confesses

Karen Lucas better known as Kaz was once a big name not only in Kenya but in the entire African continent. Fame and spotlight have since been steering clear of her path.

Kaz was the face of Kenya at continental reality show ‘Project Fame’, a pan-African version of the international talent/reality show ‘Star Academy’ which was held in South Africa in 2014.

She became an A-list celebrity afterwards dropping a collabo with CMB Prezzo dubbed ‘Tupendane’ which further boosted her popularity.

But as years passed, Kaz’s popularity faded in thin air as she couldn’t maintain consistency in releasing songs that would have kept her in limelight.

Kaz has come out to shed light on her never ending hiatus that cost her dearly in terms of relevance in the showbiz.

The songstress says she has been living a lie and in much fear. Kaz disclosed fear got the better of her thus she got cold feet to take to the stage.

“I have been so afraid of the whole world and what they think of me. I have lied to myself that I didn’t care what they thought yet the culmination of all these fears has ruled and partially ruined my life. I am terrified to go on stage, hence this almost never ending musical hiatus. I feel like for the last 3 or 4 years, I have been waiting for life to begin.” Wrote Kaz in part.

The songbird decided to confront her fears by releasing a new cover song. Kaz revealed she had become a seasoned quitter but she’s about to change that.

“I’ve wanted to quit. In fact don’t get me wrong, I have quit several times. I often call myself a quitter. The fear that lives in me was even too scared to admit how scared I am. What would people think? But here I am today, taking one step. I’m singing. I’ve never believed myself to be the best, actually as time went by I convinced myself of how untalented I was and even began believing it. But now I’m fighting back! I want my confidence back.”
