Passengers Burnt As Kayole’s Forward Travellers Matatu Explodes (Photos)

An explosive went on inside a Forward Travellers Sacco matatu as it was heading to Eastland’s Kayole estate.

Last Sunday, at least 15 passengers were injured after Kayole bound matatu burst into flames in Umoja area.

Witnesses say the cause of the blast could be a fault on the battery as it’s reported that sparks of fire emerged from the battery before fire finally broke out.

Another statement by police indicates that the blast was caused by a passenger who was carrying a jerry can of petrol in the KBV 691M.

Passengers who were burnt in the matatu explosion were rushed to the nearby Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.

No death was reported even though sources says some passengers who were seated close to the area were the explosion went on were severely injured.
