Move Off Pretenders,This Kid Is The True King Of Swahili RnB

There is too much auto tune and screeching vocals dominating the airwaves, you understand when Kenyans look abroad for good abroad. However, this is not for lack of talent or effort around.

As I have been thinking lately, the Kenyan audience gets to suffer when a tight knit network of gatekeepers get to shove down their throats the ratchet music. Thus the good Kenyan music gets to be listened only by the proactive segment of the audience that bothers to go beyond what they are fed.

Let me introduce to you Iddi Singer. If you have heard of him then you are a proactive local music connoisseur. The guy has been around since 2014 under the stewardship of Tedd Josiah before becoming signed by UK based HourGlass254 who manage him.

It is even a surprise when you learn that he is working on his second album and yet given his screaming talent his first album performed averagely despite containing a number of songs that have classical quality.

Listening to his vocal range is listening to a golden voice and an artist well aware of his vocal prowess. He also avoids shirking himself with the bongo sounds that would have seen him as another copycat and instead works with authentic African sounds mixing the strings and percussion well.

However, his melodious lyrics and voice carry the songs through. Listening to his singles from the album and recent collaborations and you understand the depth of the talent as he add an extra quality to the set up. The limelight is slowly shining on him. It is only a matter of time and he will get his deserved place among the best talents in this region. Check out some of his works below
