Ghafla Exclusive: One of Nairobi’s Iconic Clubs Florida 2000 Has Been Sold

One of Nairobi’s longest running and renowned club, Florida 2000 has been sold. The club, which has been operational since 1977, has always faced rumors of being sold for over a decade now and the new deal was agreed upon in October.

Speaking to one of the DJs of the larger Florida Clubs franchise, the newly refurbished F1, he confirmed the sale and the identity of the new owner. The buyer is also the current owner of Highlands Restaurant and Bar still located in Nairobi’s CBD.

Ghafla can confirm that the new owner will retain the current staff after having a meeting with them yesterday in the afternoon. Currently the club will is not open to the public as it undergoes renovation. Whether this will include re-branding or the old name be retained is yet to be determined.

This development brings a new chapter in one of the most iconic clubs in Nairobi famously known for its jam sessions.
