Top 7 Most Influential Kenyan Celebrities

I have been talking with my colleagues about Kenyan celebrities and the clout that they wield in Kenya and I can say that we have come up with a rather interesting list for all you Uncle Chim Tuna enthusiasts!

Okay so maybe I meant Ghafla enthusiasts but it is what it is! And with that said and done allow me to delve into my list of the most influential Kenyan celebrities in Kenya:

#7. Cabu Gah

If you haven’t heard of him then that is probably because you aren’t in his targeted niche. He appeals to the younger generation. he is a rapper cum blogger who has a rather peculiar strategy; he uses Facebook as his blog to comment about social issues and from the feedback he recieves, even industry bigwigs pay attention to him.

#6. Huddah Monroe

You think not? Well, whenever she sneezes, the internets catch a fever. Love her or hate her she is influential. W and she now has little girls trying to be like her! Whatever she does will be spoken about for days! think not, ask BBA what happened when she got evicted!

#5. Shaffie Weru

this is just that guy! The lad is unbelievably influential especially with the lads in university and those between 24 to 30! This lad is just that guy! From his bad boy days to his scandals to finally “repairing” his image. Wonder why he is one of the most popular radio presenters and celebrities? It’s because he speaks for an entire generation and they hang to his every word.

#4. Mzazi Wily M. Tuva

This is just the guy to build anyone’s entertainment career. If he doesn’t give you a nod, you will not go anywhere. This guy can build you from nothing and as proof of this allow me to mention Diamond. In Kenya, while everyone was still ignoring him, Tuva gave him airplay and you now know the rest of the story!

#3. Julie Gichuru

The lady Julie Gichuru is influential to the point of trending when Kenyans On Twitter decided they didn’t like her interview. Why? Because Kenyans hang on her every word and watch her every move. every lady want to grow up and be just like her and every lad sees their mum in her!

#2. Maina Kageni

Ever wondered why Maina Kageni has so many drops in his show? It’s because he influences the real spenders. When Maina talks about a plot of land, people go and buy it. When Maina tell people about a car, he drives up sales. That is what influence is about -getting people to spend!

#1. Mista Majani

This one was quite the toss up! It was either going to be Majani or me. He signs the cheques. Catch my drift? and before everyone goes like…

Allow me to explain; when CEO of Kenya’s biggest media companies go out of their way to get you on their table or follow you on twitter or call you before getting an artist to endorse their brand, you are surely moving in the right direction. When artists get dropped from endorsement deals because of your company or when they ask you to disarm your favourite hatchet man, then you are the man!

When CEOs ask you to come brainstorm with them and here i am talking about huge companies such as Royal Media Service, and you’re still in your early 20s, then the sky is the limit!

There is a difference between talking to a microphone about crass tribal humour while dressed in rags and sitting on a table with the kings while dressed in rags. Being cerebral supersedes popularity!
