A Hot New Star-Studded Local Drama TV Series Coming Soon on Your TV

Beginning this Monday from 7PM, a new local drama series will premiere on your TV. AfricaMagic is just getting better as it rolls out this new show.

Dubbed “Kona”, the new series is set on Kenya’s boxing industry. Kona ollows the lives of the Oyange family, who are coming to terms with the tragic death of the patriarch, Richard.

The family soon learns that Richard’s business is in financial snag, including the gym where the boxers train.

Meet the lead cast;

Julia Oyange – a member of the Oyange family, Julia is deeply loyal and focused on her career. She grew up with Wanjala, the only man she’s ever opened up to, but when he betrays the family, she finds it difficult to forgive him.

Wanjala Otieno – Wanjala was raised by his grandmother, but after her death, the Oyange family took him in. From an early age, Wanjala showed an interest in boxing, just like his father.

Wangui Otieno – the estranged wife of Wanjala and childhood friend. Their relationship and ultimate marriage wasn’t favoured by either family. Wangui works for Mrs Oyange, and even though Wanjala rejected her, Wangui will always love him.

Jimmy – Jimmy is the gym coach and was Mr Oyange’s only real friend. With a successful boxing career behind him, he now trains the young fighters, keeping them on the straight and narrow.

Jeremiah Abasi – Known as Bull, Jeremiah is a very dodgy fight promoter. He has obscure connections and there is bad history between him and Jimmy. He has projected all his hatred on Mr Oyange.

Ayira Oyange – for Mrs Oyange, family is everything. A woman of substance, she can’t stand people treating her children unfairly, including Mr Oyange’s attitude towards Wanjala, whom she considers a son.

Pamela Oyange – the youngest daughter of the Oyange’s, Pamela is a tad spoilt. With more freedom and less responsibility than her siblings, Pamela has no idea what she wants to do with her life.

Gabriel Mutisu – Gabriel runs a kiosk near the gym and he creates a lot of confusion with customers thanks to his odd pronounciation.

Binti Kitiza – the first and only legal wife of Jimmy, Binti can be over-bearing and she believes she is the only person with all the answers. With her iron fist, she rules the children Jimmy has with other “ex-wives”, but there’s still one ex she cannot stand.

Simon – Simon’s dream is to become the best boxer in Kenya. But he is selfish and he doesn’t hesitate to use people to help make his dream come true.

Lucky – often the voice of reason when Simon over-reacts, Lucky stands by Jimmy when things at the gym go through rough waters.

Meanwhile, Multichoice Kenya will be launching state-of-the art studios next Friday and the Head of State is expected to grace the occasion. Keep it here for more on that.
