Yet Another Con Artist Places An Ad Seeking Medical Aid on A Daily (Photo)
Thursday, a con woman posing as a mother seeking medical assistance for ‘her son’ was nicked after placing an ad in the ‘Daily Nation’. Reports later indicated that the con woman, one Ruth Pauline had already made a whooping KSh1.7M before she was exposed.
Upon realizing the con game, Nation Media Group alerted the police and two men, Omkokwa and Njeru who are believed to have been accomplices were arrested at Nation Centre when they went to pay the fees for the advert.
Police are in pursuit of the third suspect, Ruth Pauline, whose mobile phone number and bank account was provided in the ad. Shockingly, Ruth is only 18 years old.
And now, yet again, an observant Kenyan has exposed a scam exploiting human sympathy to milk money from Kenyans. The scammer posted a photo of a deceased lady asking for medical backing after shamelessly lifting the photo from the obituary section of a leading daily.
To post a medical appeal advert on a newspaper requires a certificate from a hospital and a letter from a chief and it appears this con artist maneuvered their way through all that.
