WTF: Kenyan Oscar Contender Lupita Nyong’o Claiming She’s MEXICAN
The famous Kenyan actress and acclaimed director recently became the darling of Hollywood.
Lupita Nyong’o is right in the middle of enjoying a meteoric rise to Hollywood fame. From her continental success in Shuga, an MTv miniseries, to her directorial debut In My Genes (film about views of albinism in Kenya), she gives us yet another proud moment for Kenyans.
OR DOES SHE?
But why is it when a Kenyan is firmly thrust into the limelight, does their claim to Kenyan roots disappear? But why? If it’s not athletes defecting to Qatar, to losing our claim to POTUS as “our comrade”, to Dillish initially denying her Kenyan father…… Now it seems, Lupita Nyong’o’s wiki says she was born in Mexico and educated in good old U-S-A!!! God Bless Murica.
Beats me why this happens. She’s OURS! We’re claiming this striking talent as our own. Flag and all. Here’s a couple reasons why we can’t let Mexico or ‘Murica take Lupita.
Just look at her working the understated glam at the World War Z premier
And what about her acting in 12 Years a Slave? I mean……. Watch the trailer

Lupita walking out of a gifting suite at TIFF, effortlessly looking like a million bucks.
At the TIFF press conference, owning this picture, even in the presence of Steve McQueen, Michael Fassbender, Alfre Woodard, Sarah Paulson and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Looking like part of the Honor-Prefall campaign while casually giving her best nonchalant “Hey, I just have the entire Honor collection before it’s in stores” look.
Cuz of this perfect picture of her (the lead actress), with the protagonist (Ejiofor) and antagonist (Fassbender) of the film. [Bonus points for crazy eyes in the background!]
Cuz she is KILLING the red carpet.
No, seriously, she is KILLING the red carpet.
I told you, she is MURDERING THE RED CARPET.
Cuz Brad Pitt is holding her hand in a picture that Darren Aronofsky took and he tweeted she’s prob gonna win an Oscar. The greatness of this tweet cannot be over-estimated.
Dear Mexico, we see you. Back off. Kenyans don’t play. Just ask twitter 🙂
This happens when you tempt KOT. Remember this trending topic?
KOT FTW!!!!!
EDIT: It mentions in her wiki she was raised in Kenya, but a lot of the stories in the media are conveniently leaving that out.
