Kenya’s Award Winning Poet Takes Her Hugs To Ghana
Thursday 10th October marks world mental health day when the world gets together and throws events to celebrate those living with mental health conditions. This year Ghana organized their first mental health and well being conference and invited Kenya’s award winning poet and mental health ambassador, Sitawa Wafula to perform and speak at the conference.
The Ghanian poetry community also took advantage of this and invited sitawa to grace the opening of a new hall at the University of Ghana on Thursday 10th.
The conference runs from 10-13th October and has speakers from the host country, UK, USA and Australia alongside Kenya’s Sitawa Wafula. Earlier in the year Sitawa won the youth philanthropy award for her work in mental health awareness from the East Africa philanthropy awards and she will spend an extra week in Accra visiting mental health projects and, getting and giving hugs for her #hugsitawa campaign.
