Governor Alfred Mutua Launches Machakos County’s “Hollywood” – Machawood (Photos)
Arguably the most operational of the 47 Governors, Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua is back in the news with yet another praiseworthy project. Tusday, the Governor launched ‘MachaWood’ – Machakos Entertainment Center for Film, Media, Music and the Arts.
Dr. Mutua says the Center’s main mandate is to make Machakos County the premier location for entertainment in Africa, and hopes it will promote and attract filmmakers, musicians, artists and media so as to grow the industry.
It’s expected that MachaWood will generate over 30,000 jobs and 500 Million Kenya Shillings to Machakos County in the next one year. He revealed that it should be functioning by December 31st. The Government of Machakos has set aside 50 acres of land in our new Machakos City for the Center. MachaWood has also been allocated an initial Kshs. 60 Million this financial year for its start-up operations.
