Following NTV’s Dennis Okari Expose JKIA Swings into Action
Last Sunday, NTV aired an eye-opening expose, A Terrorists’ Playground that unmasked the soft underbelly of security agents at installations around Nairobi. The expose, a brainchild of virtuoso investigative reporter – Dennis Okari – has been on the lips of Kenyans for 4 days now and had security agents scamper to put their houses in order.
In what has been viewed as a reflex action, the country’s major airport, JKIA, has tightened security in and around the airport.
Here are the changes;
“All the restaurants within JKIA to be put under 24 hour surveillance. An access control gate to be constructed
The potters & ground handlers operating in Airside areas to wear standard budges for easy identification.
All business entities including taxis within the airport to provide clear identification for all their workers & provide the same to police.
Screening of passengers & motorists entering the airport to commence about 2KM from JKIA main gate.
Airport North Road from by-pass flyover (Taj Mall) to be restricted to vehicles that have business at the airport.
Vehicles using Mombasa road JKIA diversion to be restricted to only those doing business at JKIA.
All members of the public & other airport users informed that they might be delayed at the checkpoint for up to 30 minutes for checks.”
