Team Lupita Stays Winning As Chimamanda Ngozi-Adichie Fawns Over Her. Read Her Comments On Lupita Here

Lupita Nyong’o like Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has been cast in the role of role model for black girls around the world. Someone who they can look upto and emulate. My colleague Jeff even wrote up an opinion piece on why she is a good thing -the gist of it being that she gave Kenyan girls something to look forward to other than be ratchet and twerk all day.

And it seems like it’s not just Jeff Omondi who sees things that way. Chimamanda recently went on record to say this about Lupita:

“I think her existence is very important”

I came across her statements while reading the HuffPost to whom she gave an interview and she then said the following:

“Looking the way she looks, she’s very dark-skinned, she has natural hair — this is spectacular,”

On that, I too will agree. The fact that she is of such a dark toned complexion is excellent for Africa, what with the recent explosion in popularity of skin bleaching agents and air heads such as Dencia making a profit from milking low self esteem of girls who have suffered insult from dimwitted lads.
And it’s not that I am saying that there’s anything wrong with being light skinned nor am I saying that there is anything wrong with wanting to be light skinned. I lie. But I am not one to impose my opinions on others. What I abhor absolutely is the peddling of dangerous chemicals while playing on people’s insecurities.
