American Radio and TV Personality Slams Lupita, Dismisses Her Movie ’12 Years A Slave’
With her fierce style and massive talent, she’s great and we all like Lupita Nyong’o. Everyone does, right? Wrong…
American Radio and TV Personality, Lenard McKelvey, known professionally as Charlamagne Tha God known for his outspoken and brutally honest rhetoric on The Breakfast Club (on Power 105.1) and on Twitter, doesn’t understand why all the buzz around the Oscar winner.
Charlamagne who became popular from being on The Wendy Williams Experience with Wendy Williams on VH1, doesn’t deny that Lupita is a beautiful woman, but wonders if she would still be championed if she weren’t nominated for an Oscar. He brings up other dark-skinned women like Tika Sumpter and Kelly Rowland, saying that he doesn’t hear people saying the same thing about them as they’re saying about Lupita.
Charlamagne
“Tika Sumpter has been out here, Kelly Rowland has been out here, what’s the difference between Lupita and all of them? That Lupita is getting embraced by Hollywood because white America is saying she’s beautiful? What are we really applauding here?” he queries.
Charlamagne adds, “She’s a beautiful woman…period! Nothing more, nothing less! Like I didn’t even realize it’s still such a big issue nowadays.”

On ’12 Years A Slave’, Charlamagne declares;
“Of course you thought that was a great movie (laughs mockingly)…no one wants to see that bullsh*t! For what? It won best picture, salute to them…but am into slave movies no more! Why do we need more slave movies? We’ve got enough slave movies man!”
