Maisha Superstar Show Enters Elimination Stage.

It was a mixture of joy, pain, disbelief and a sigh of relief when Maisha Superstar Reality TV show finally entered the elimination stage where Ugandan Rookie Richy Kaweesa became the first rookie to be sent home.

The tenth episode of the hugely popular reality TV show airing on Maisha Magic Channel 161 on DStv every Monday at 8.00pm was filled with awe and glamor as each of the six Rookies coached by six of the best East Africa’s music celebrity mentors took to the Maisha Superstar stage to outdo each other with hopes of qualifying to the next round.

The studio audience was full of excitement when the glamorous Maisha Superstar Show host Amina Abdi emerged on stage to introduce the day’s judges and contestants.  The judging panel whose total votes amounts to 70 percent comprised Nazizi and Edward Kwach as permanent judges, Ugandan TV and Radio Host Monique Kabuye, Tanzanian Radio personality Tina Korosso, Talent Manager David Muriithi and Music Producer Victor Seii coming in as guest judges for the week.

When it came to the turn of the Rookies to take to the stage, the atmosphere in the well-designed studio quickly turned electric as each of the well groomed upcoming stars engaged the audience and judges to melodious original own compositions with some of the Rookies going as far as including high school vocalists to perform the chorus. Rabbit’s Rookie Phy presented a nursery school rhyme Dance to the bush baby with two young girls coming in as her supporting dancers.

Star Rookie Fil-ah did a wonderful own composition bordering on African jazz fully supported by a group of school boys whose melodramatic chorus left the audience screaming for more action. Tanzanian Rookie Damian Soul set the stage alight receiving a thunderous applaud from the studio audience after performing a Kiswahili own composition that earned him a whopping 94 points from both the audience and the judges.

Damian Soul’s fellow Tanzanian Rookie Myra gave a stunning performance that drew tears from her mentor Shaa who became emotional while expressing her joy with the outcome of her rookie who was once a shy lady who could neither perform before cameras nor in front of a crowd.

The night also saw rousing performances from Ugandan Rookies Spirit Soul and Richy Kaweesa.  At the end of the sterling acts, a decision had to be made on who was to go home. Soft voiced Maurice Kirya of Uganda became the first casualty when his rookie Richy Kaweesa had to be sent packing after receiving the least accumulative scores in the first elimination in the episode which saw popular Kenyan Rookie Phy dropping points after leading the table for three weeks consecutively.

The five remaining rookies now proceed to the 11th episode to air next week Monday where more of them will be eliminated to pave way for the ultimate winner who will walk away with a recording deal and a cash prize of Ksh 1.2 million on Monday May 1st 2015.
