If You Thought That Tribalism Was Only A Kenyan Thing, This Finding Will Blow Your Mind.
I cannot even fathom the number of times that I have been called a thief because I belong to a certain ethnicity. I have been called stingy too on countless occasions- an eerie form of stereotyping that I have to call the most regressive ever. But did I die?
But did you ever think for a moment that this form of stereotyping is a localized thing? You will be shocked to learn that It pretty much happens the world over and the recipients are easy with it! This is where you take cue, If someone brands you as a thief because you hail from a certain region in central Kenya, laugh it off and move on. You are not a witch by the virtue of association. In fact the easiest way of fighting tribalism is accepting it like it’s funny.
Below is a Video Compilation by Iko Nini done mwafreeka that visits these European stereotypes which I interpreted as “Tribalism the European way”
Did you know that European have generalized the French as snobs who don’t take showers? They go on to say that the french invented perfumes to mask their body odor ( hahaha, please call me a thief any day) The Dutch are stereotyped as stingy( refer to the Kikuyu) While the Italians, just like the Kikuyu’s are referred to as thieves. And the myriad of name-calling does not end there.
Here is a hilarious video detailing the level of stereotyping in the world. This is a must watch.
