Politician Who Almost Killed Journalists With Deadly Bullets Appears In Court (Photo)

A month ago, journalists dodged death by a whisker when a Nakuru politician mindlessly shot at them as they covered demonstrations over a controversial piece of land in Nakuru.

Mr. Peter Ole Osono, who is a Nakuru ODM chair, appeared in court yesterday to answer charges of attempted over the shooting incident.

A Naivasha court was told that Mr. Osono shot at the journalists as they covered demonstrations over a piece of land he allegedly acquired illegally.

One of the journalists narrated how the accused first shot at a reporter who luckily dodged the bullet and then shot at a cameraman who also dodged the bullet.

The journalists were then forced to flee for their lives as youths who accompanied the accused pursued them with machetes and other crude weapons.

Hearing of the case resumes on 11th August.

It has emerged that journalists in Kenya and across the world are not offered favourable conditions to do their job, and the Nakuru incident highlights this further.
