Oh Lord! Is Activist Boniface Mwangi Dead? On His Birthday?

Boniface Mwangi is arguably the only man in Kenya who has endured all to fight against ills in society. He has been beaten like a stray dog, battered like a promiscuous woman in the Stone Age period, scorned like a leaper and despised like a homeless beggar.

But his desire is just one: to make Kenya a better place for everyone. And the world at large. Imagine someone leaving his job as a journalist to become an activist whose work is to face off with the might in society. To face off with those who oppress the helpless and walk away with it.

Loathe him or like him, Boniface Mwangi is no ordinary man.

And today he has taken his activism a notch higher by “dying”. And it is his birthday. What the hell!

Through his facebook page, the activist has shared a video of himself in mortuary, dead, as he is prepared to finally make his bow out of this world.

The video shows from the time Boniface dies until when he is laid to rest, with his family left in tatters. But why do all this Boniface?

The message is in the background. Boniface is stressing the importance of living the world a better place for everything. He is urging all of us that no matter what we do or have, we will one day die and leave all behind. They will vanish and no one will remember them.

What remains is the legacy you built. And not a Subaru but a legacy of the good things you did when you lived.

Here is the chilling video:

Today is my Birthday, here are my thoughts as I celebrate 32 great years in this world. One day I will die, I don’t know when and how but I will surely die. I will be lying on that cold slab. Breathless, lifeless. Finally silent. I won’t be buried with my loving wife, or my kids. The things that I loved; my bike, my camera, my books will not be buried with me. The only thing that will be left is my legacy. What did I achieve when I was alive? That is the question we need to ask ourselves. Are you helping or destroying? How will you be remembered? Are you silent when the poor are oppressed? When land is grabbed, when we are divided on tribal lines, do you observe and go about your business? Are you one of those people who side with the majority? Who look on as the rich and powerful oppress the poor. Remember we will all die, and when we die we won’t take our bank accounts. We won’t take our titles with us. we won’t go with our adoring fans. No groupies, no selfies. No more rallies and campaigns. All that remains is a legacy and I don’t mean the subaru. I am talking about the impact of your actions. Remember your life is a gift, what you do with your life is your gift to the world. Leave this world better than you found it. Wherever you are, whether you are a watchman, a matatu tout, a hawker, doctor, policeman, Change the world don’t just sit idle. Don’t let fear stop you or hold you back. remember that you will never achieve anything without courage.
