Rapper Xtatic Signed Onto Sony Music Label

Female rapper/singer and songwriter Xtatic (full name Gloria Edna Mecheo) has officially been signed onto the Sony Music Entertainment label, according to a press release by Rockstar 4000 yesterday.

The 21-year old Kenyan, who is currently recording her debut album predominantly in South Africa, is also set to release the first single titled ‘Wild’, off her upcoming album, sometime this month. Xtatic has signed a full management services deal with Sony Music and Rockstar 4000 as well as a publishing deal with Rockstar Publishing which will position her music to strategic markets on not just the continent but the world.

“Xtatic is without doubt one of the most promising, talented and exciting contemporary hip-hop artists to emerge from the continent in recent years,” says Jandre Louw, Founder and CEO of ROCKSTAR4000 Music Entertainment. “We are truly ecstatic to work with her and thrilled to be part of the Sony Music team to take her and her music to fans across the world.”

Xtatic, who’s single teaser ‘the Prep track’ has been hugely popular on social media circles through YouTube, says she received the call from Rockstar 4000 on her birthday and at first thought it was just a prank. The artiste believed that a few years back she hadn’t pieced together her content, flow and delivery but it is this very same combination that landed her the deal.

Tanzania’s Rose Muhando had early this year also been signed onto the Rockstar 4000 and Sony Music Entertainment label. Seeking local artistes land such lucrative management and distribution deals is not only a sign of faith by the international music community but part of Sony Music’s commitment to music development.
