Classic 105’s Ciku Muiruri Stays at one of The Ghost-Haunted Hotels in America

If you have watched the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” then the name Congress Plaza Hotel definitely rings a bell. It has been listed among the Top 10 Haunted Hotels by Yahoo Travel. For one, if I were to visit Chicago I would avoid the hotel like a plague but for some reason, Classic 105’s Ciku Muiruri and her daughter decided to stay at the hotel.

Here’s why;

We are staying at The Congress Plaza once known as the Home of Presidents because of the number of US Presidents that have stayed here – 8 in total. But we are not here because of them – We came for the ghosts! My daughter and I watched a movie some time back about this place and we could not resist. A haunted hotel? How cool is that? Roaming the revered hallways is the ghost of notorious gangster, Al Capone among others. The bell boy told me he has seen enough people running from their rooms in various states of undress when the ghosts appear. How interesting. Sleep in sweats for a quick get away!

Room 441 is the most haunted of the lot. Security is called there more than in any other room. Guests always say the same thing – They see a shadowy outline of a woman. Why call security? What can a guard do? Arrest a ghost? Sounds to me like this hotel needs a resident priest instead. A young boy is often seen roaming the halls. His is a sad story – His mother threw him out of a window before killing herself. But the real horror rests on the 12th floor. There is a room so scary that it has been bolted shut from the outside. I’ve asked to see the inside and received frightened looks. That room was the basis of the movie. Brave journalists that tried to stay there to debunk the haunted myths never lived to tell the tale. I’m not really a believer in ghost stories but after seeing their expressions and spending one night here, I’m not too sure what to think. Twice during the night I heard thumping against the bedposts in my room. What the…?

Despite the unexplained sounds I’m still curious about 12th floor. I read somewhere that one must always confront their biggest fears and for me, paranormal activity gives me the creeps. So I’ll probably go up and take a walk around.

If a ghost appears I hope it’s on Sunday morning before the race. Maybe it will scare Erica into literally running for her life! She may break Kipsang’s world record! Ha ha. I joke but we really are very silly, my daughter and I. Looking for trouble in haunted places… It may just find us.
