Open Letter to Christians from Kenya’s Leading Entertainer
One of the pioneers of Kenya’s Urban Gospel Ministry, Big Kev (Kevin Ombajo) was recently surprised by the reactions of Kenyan Christians when it emerged that MCSK’s boss, Mahmoud (formerly Maurice) Okoth converted to Islam in order to marry his sweetheart, Shamillah.
With close to 500 responses, Big Kev decided to respond to the inapt ideologies of the commentatrors. Here’s that;
I’m appalled by what i have read and want to address this first as a Christian and secondly because Maurice is my brother and friend………
Being one of the founders of the Urban Gospel industry in Kenya and considering our experiences, i will keep my responses limited to Biblical teaching and what the scriptures say. I will use capital letters to emphasize what i think is important……
I do not usually write controversial posts and this is my PERSONAL OPINION on the matter. Luke 10:27states “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength, love your neighbor as you love yourself”………Jesus said this to fulfill the law and usher in the era of GRACE………the cornerstone of our faith is LOVE
1 John 4:20 states “whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar”. “For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen”…..
i am APPALLED BY THE LEVEL OF HATE SPEECH directed towards Maurice for HIS choice to revert to Islam to marry his bride yet Philippians 2:12 states “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence The Apostle Paul tells the Philippians to WORK OUT ” YOUR OWN SALVATION ” WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING!”
Kindly consider that whatever the consequences this HIS CHOICE does not deserve condemnation from the rest of us rather pray for him……..If we want to minister to the world Christianity teaches that we shall do so BY LOVE! The posts have generated into open condemnation and abuse by self-righteous people who may not even enter the gates of heaven themselves

Mathew 7:21-23 states “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven”………We choose not to say the things that need to be said yet we defile our Fathers temple by kicking our very own fallen soldiers out into the cold with un-forgiveness in our hearts and a distinct lack of passion.
John 15:13 states””Greater love hath no man this, that a man lays down his life for his friends”””, this IS the love that Christ taught us 10 Romans 6

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved….
As scripture says, anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him…..next verse says ANYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED”
John 14:6 Jesus said I am the way the truth and the light, no one comes to the Father but by me……This is what we believe………in the context of my letter above we can only share this Gospel through love…………let us stop stepping on those that do not share our beliefs, but rather love them, because this is what Christ has commanded, after all your salvation by faith is a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP between you and Christ because you have been saved by Grace and not through works as all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God…….
My final say on this is that we are losing out on many souls (our brothers and sisters) because we do not love on them, we cannot FORCE anyone to believe what we believe, because salvation is by grace….let us stop kicking out those that have sinned but instead forgive them SEVENTY x SEVEN states Mathew 18:21-23 (how many have we lost this way)……….let me not even start on the Fake Doctrines being preached on our Screens and Pulpits and a Gospel industry that is falling way short of Christs teachings Mathew 24:24 For false Messiahs will arise and prophets of lies, and they will give great signs so as to deceive, if possible EVEN THE ELECT behold, i have told you in advance””…………….In Jesus Name
