Did octopizzo Steal His Latest Song From Eminem? Listen To Both Tracks And Decide (MUSIC VIDEO)

Yesterday, I wrote up a rather nice piece about a very nice song from Octopizzo called “Blackstar”. It was very easy to write up the piece given how good the song is -I kinda just fed off the energy of the song.

That was yesterday. Today I woke up to a text from an avid Ghafla reader who told me off for claiming to be a hiphop head and yet I did not realize that the song that I wrote about was a blatant copy of an Eminem song called, “Blackstar”.

The Eminem track features T.I and was released back in 2012. The Octopizzo track was released over the weekend. The two are completely the same.

Anyway, when I called Octo up, he didn’t pick up any of my of my calls. He finally returned my call and we had a conversation. I asked him about the allegations that the song is stolen and he challenged me to check out either Eminem or T.I’s Vevo to find the track. Indeed, I couldn’t.
He then explained that the track was off a mixtape. A DJ spliced the verses from various Eminem and T.I. The instrumentals aren’t owned by any of them.

That was where he stopped playing nice. He fired the following missiles at everyone saying he had stolen the song:

“Kwani Eminem na T.I wame-rap ngoma ngapi za Kiswahili? Na kwani Eminem ali-grow Kibera? But wacha wasee wazidii kubonga sii tukizidii kusonga!”

He makes a good point because I have heard several mixtapes and indeed, instrumentals are used by various artists. Yo-Gotti rapped over a specific set of instrumentals on “Colours” and Rick Ross then rapped over the same beats.

What say you? For now check out the Eminem track below:
