Exclusive: Radio Africa Raids 1 FM for Its Top News Anchor

Poaching in the Kenyan media industry is nothing new and millions of cash has been used to drive leading TV presenters from houses they’ve always been associated with to a new ‘home’. Well, Radio Africa Group has become the first media house to lead the onslaught this year.

After plucking Adelle Onyango and Tina Kaggia from the Barclays Plaza-based urban radio station, the Patrick Quarcoo-owned media giant seems not satisfied. According to reliable sources, Leah Mutimba, the only other news anchor (apart from Victor Oloo) is headed to Radio Africa Group on the same capacity.

Leah has been with Media Stream (One FM 97.1 & Hits FM 91.5) for close to 3 years and the new opportunity at RAG is a plus for her resume.

Apart from being a news anchor she describes herself as “a lady with a big heart” and true enough Leah runs a charity trust, Changamka Dada, whose overall goal is to provide sanitary towels and panties as well as counseling on health matters and personal challenges to underprivileged boys and girls in marginalized areas.
