The Social media community and representatives from the mainstream media on Wednesday came together for a breakfast meeting where the role of social media in economic empowerment was discussed.
The event held at Hotel Intercontinental in Nairobi was a pre-launch of the this year’s OLX Social Media Awards (OLX SOMA 2015) and saw the unveiling of the theme: Social Media and Economic Empowerment.
OLX, the online classified service, are the title sponsors of the annual Awards now in its third year. Other sponsors are Trinc Media Ltd, a digital agency, engaging in web design, social media strategy, and digital campaign execution, and several other corporate organizations and aims at recognizing and rewarding individuals who have contributed towards improvement of lives through good use of various social media platforms.
Key personalities in the industry who attended the event include OLX Country Manager, Peter Ndiang’ui, OLX Social Media Awards Director, Martin Muli, ICT Authority Chairman, Dr. Matunda Nyanchama, and Nendos CEO, Mark Kaigwa.
