5 Months After A UN Diplomat Battered His Wife, A UN Director In Kenya Is In Trouble For Racism And Harrasment

There seems to be a trouble with foreign diplomats in Kenya especially those working at the UN. With the incident of one of their UNEP diplomats beating up the wife still fresh, another top diplomat ha been accused of harassment.

Executive Director Dr. Joan Clos of UN-Habitat is facing a petition filed against him by the workers of the UN Habitat who want his suspension over alleged misconduct and abusive behavior.

In a letter to the UN Secretary General by the staffers and also copied to UN spokesman Gordon Weiss, the employees say the Joan Clos who is from Spain has a history of belittling Kenyans and going to the extent of abusing staff at other agencies like JICA saying their work is absolutely ‘bullshit’ along with other unprintable insults.

The staff are represented by their lawyer Mr. Setondji Roland Adjovi and they have collected signatures of over 50 people from different nationalities ready to testify over the abuse of office they accuse Dr. Clos of.
