13 Hottest Breakout Entertainers Of 2013

2013 was a good year for Kenyan entertainers. They were coming up left right and center! it was like, everytime I would take the time to watch TV -I do not watch TV but when i do, I keep seeing new talented faces coming about.

The new faces have been causing quite a stir and have been unsettling the old guard: you know the type the entertainers who have been around for several years not doing music and when they do, it isn’t worth a damn.

But away from bitter truth serums, this is all about appreciating the new faces that made an impact of some sort in Kenya’s entertainment industry and they are:

#13. Tiri

The lass has really come into her own -you know, outside of being Kus Ma’s (Camp Mulla) girlfriend. But she still has a long way to go. i want to see people talk about her and not add the suffix “K’Cous Girl”.

#12. Alex Kioko

I first wrote about the lad when July was peaking and I do not regret posting about the lad. He is one of the lads to watch out for in 2014.

#11. Danny Gift

Aye so the lad only has one song and he features in it but his talent is undeniable. He brought the song he did with Daddy Owen “Kazi ya Msalaba” to life and for that, he appears on the list.

#10. Kristoff

I have nothing but respect for Kristoff. he came out with a hot song, “Tattoo kwa Thigh” which was a dedication then another hot track with Khaligraph Jones. The lad is going places. Mark my words.

#9. Owago Onyiro

The lad has a refreshing approach to comedy. Unlike all the other demure comedians, he pulls no punches and takes no prisoners. his uncensored adult humour is just what the doctor ordered. I however hope he can navigate the minefield that is corporate sponsorship.

#8. Kimdanny

This lad had a scandal about an alleged pregnancy. He bounced back and has been releasing hot gospel tracks.

First heard about the lad from J. Blessing but I wasn’t interested. I am certainly paying attention now and so is Kenya. The young gospel artist is someone who will definitely cause seismic shifts in kenya’s entertainment industry.

#6. Sleepy

The comedian has had a roller coaster life this year. He can honestly say he has seen high highs and has hit low lows such as when his brother was allegedly gunned down by police. that being said, he tasted stardom and has run away with it.

#5. HopeKid

Hopekid has been a hit and with good reason. Although the lad was nearly derailed when he was accused of infringing Jamaican artists to make his own material, he has soared high nonetheless.

#4. Elani

This was their year. their music finally got widespread acceptance. Hope they keep it coming at the same velocity from now on.

#3. Chipukeezy

This has been his year. More than anyone under Churchill’s wing, he has managed to take advantage of the mentorship project more than anyone else. From Kiss 100 to GOtv, the sky is the limit for the young lad.

#2. Sage

Sage has to be the breakout artist of the entire year. She has been such an impact! No doubt about that!

#1. Kidis

“Aaaah! Kamua leo!”
